Position Overview

Hessen Mobil – Roads and Traffic Management is hiring a gatekeeper/porter for its training and continuing education residence in Rotenburg an der Fulda. The role supports the daily operation of the boarding-style accommodation used by trainees and course participants. Because some residents are minors, the position carries a heightened duty of care and supervision.

Key Duties

You will oversee and monitor the residence, making sure house rules, quiet hours, and general conduct standards are followed. The role also includes being a point of contact for trainees and continuing education participants and helping them with organizational matters.

When needed, you will provide first aid and initiate immediate measures in case of emergencies. Your work will also involve monitoring access points, carrying out security and locking rounds, and reporting technical faults.

In addition, you will operate the telephone system, handle basic computer-based administrative tasks, and issue keys, materials, and supplies. Other duties include driving and courier runs, supporting minor repairs, preparing classrooms, and assisting with further organizational and domestic tasks.

The job is organized in a split-shift model with evening and night shifts.

Qualifications and Profile

The employer is looking for someone with a strong sense of responsibility and a high level of discretion. A confident, composed manner is important, along with teamwork skills and respectful, clear communication.

You should enjoy working with people from different cultural backgrounds and like interacting with young people. Good written and spoken German is required. Several years of work experience are expected, ideally in a skilled trade, with relevant prior experience seen as an advantage. A category B driving licence and basic technical understanding are also required.
