Role overview

As an RAF Firefighter, you will help deliver continuous 24/7 protection for fire incidents and crash rescue operations. The role calls for strong organisation and specialist training so you can respond quickly to emergencies using advanced equipment, including heavy-duty cutting tools.

Key duties

RAF Firefighters support a deployable aerodrome and rescue firefighting capability for Defence operations in the UK and overseas.

• Contribute to air operations when assigned within the UK or while serving overseas.
• Operate as part of a tightly coordinated team that can be deployed at short notice to any location worldwide.
• Manage incidents involving aircraft, buildings, hazardous materials, and events linked to hostile activity.

Requirements at a glance

• GCSEs at Grade C/4, or Scottish National 5 at Grade C, in English Language and Mathematics/Application of Mathematics, or an equivalent qualification such as Functional Skills, are required.
