Role overview

The North School is looking for a skilled and proactive Exams Officer to take ownership of exam administration and ensure the smooth, accurate running of the full assessment cycle. This is a role for someone who is highly organised, meticulous with details, and confident handling busy deadlines. Strong communication skills, administrative capability, and the ability to keep systems accurate at all times are essential.

The post is based at The North School and is due to begin in September 2026. Interviews are planned for the week commencing 17 July 2026.

Working pattern: term time plus 10 additional days, making 40 working weeks across the year.

Salary: £28,641 to £30,201 FTE (SAT D) or £25,378 to £26,761 pro rata.

What the role involves

  • Managing the school’s examinations administration from start to finish, including electronic entries and registrations for all qualifications, external exams, mock examinations, and internal assessments across all year groups.
  • Making sure all JCQ and exam board rules are understood, followed, and updated in line with any changes.
  • Coordinating and supervising the invigilation team, including briefing duties before, during, and after examination sessions.
  • Serving as the main contact for exam-related queries and working with staff, students, and parents to ensure the right paperwork and processes are completed.

What the school is looking for

The successful applicant will bring excellent IT ability, strong administrative and organisational strengths, and a careful approach to accurate record-keeping. Previous experience in an examination officer role is preferred, and experience of the Bromcom management information system would be an advantage. A background in a school setting is helpful, and a real interest in working with young people is important.

The school also values flexibility, the ability to manage a busy environment, and the confidence to build effective working relationships with staff, governors, and the wider school community.
