Desktop Engineer

About the Role

Xtremax is focused on using technology to create practical digital solutions for businesses and public-sector organizations across the region. The company is hiring a proactive, service-minded Desktop Engineer cum Admin to support the internal IT environment and help keep systems running smoothly, securely, and dependably.

Responsibilities

• Keep standard desktop software patched and up to date on a regular basis.
• Administer Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Investigate the underlying causes of network issues, slow performance, and hardware breakdowns.
• Set up, install, and configure tools and applications needed for the company’s operating systems and platforms.
• Compile and share IT status reports.
• Put security controls in place and continuously monitor systems and company data.
• Oversee network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, and access points.

Requirements

• A Diploma in IT is preferred, or a qualification in a related discipline.
• About 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience is needed.
• Some knowledge of IT and cloud computing fundamentals.
• Comfortable working with Windows and macOS, with Linux experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft support tools such as Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, storage, and networking.
• Strong ability to install and maintain hardware and software.
• Good understanding of computer parts, peripherals, electrical systems, and hardware troubleshooting.
• Capable of identifying and fixing software problems across different applications.
• Solid grasp of networking basics.
• Awareness of security best practices for systems and data protection.
• Basic troubleshooting knowledge for Ethernet and IP configuration.
• Able to communicate technical matters and solutions clearly to non-technical users.
• Familiarity with ISO 27001 and similar standards.
• Must be able to manage facilities, prepare quotations, and take on other ad hoc tasks as required.

Additional Information

This is a contract position based onsite in Singapore. The role combines desktop engineering support with administrative responsibilities, so the ideal candidate should be adaptable, organized, and comfortable handling a mix of technical and operational tasks.
