About the Role

This position is for a technical data professional who will help shape reporting, automation, and data management efforts in an environmental and operations-focused business setting. The work involves creating scalable data solutions, improving how information moves between systems, and enabling business teams with reliable reporting tools.

The role is suited to someone who can work independently on complex technical tasks while also partnering with stakeholders to convert business needs into practical, scalable solutions. The position can be done remotely, though there is a preference for candidates who can attend occasional meetings at a corporate office when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Enable environmental, operational, and business reporting through analytics and automation.
Architect, build, and support scalable databases and data pipelines.
Create, tune, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data models.
Develop and maintain ETL workflows and data integration processes.
Build dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Power BI, Spotfire, or similar tools.
Automate workflows using Power Automate, Copilot Studio, Python, or comparable tools.
Combine data from multiple internal and external systems.
Put data quality checks, validation steps, and reconciliation controls in place.
Investigate data problems and perform root-cause analysis to strengthen accuracy and reliability.
Prepare documentation for architectures, workflows, standards, and technical procedures.
Convert business requirements into workable technical designs.
Support modernization, reporting, and automation initiatives.
Work with business users, analysts, and technical teams to improve reporting efficiency.
Handle multiple projects and changing priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, Information Systems, or a similar discipline.
At least 5 years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, business intelligence, or application support.
Advanced SQL development skills.
Experience building and supporting database solutions and data pipelines.
Practical experience with ETL development and data integration.
Comfort working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, Spotfire, or comparable reporting platforms.
Experience creating automation solutions with Power Automate, Copilot Studio, Python, or similar technologies.
Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and root-cause analysis skills.
Ability to translate business needs into effective technical outcomes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational habits and documentation discipline.
Capability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Experience

Background in the oil and gas sector.
Exposure to environmental, regulatory, operational, or ESG reporting work.
Experience with cloud data platforms and modern data architecture.
Familiarity with machine learning, predictive analytics, or advanced data modeling.
Experience supporting enterprise automation and digital transformation efforts.
Knowledge of enterprise reporting, data governance, and data quality frameworks.

Work Environment

This is a remote or hybrid role. Some travel may be necessary for meetings, project assistance, or training. The work is collaborative and may involve business, environmental, operational, and technical stakeholders. Because the environment is fast-paced, strong prioritization and project management skills are important.

Schedule and Pay

The role is based in Houston, Texas. The pay rate is $64 per hour. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, with 5 days on and 2 days off.
