Role overview
This full-time non-management pastry kitchen position is based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at a luxury hospitality property. The role sits within the Food and Beverage & Culinary function and involves hands-on preparation of food items to exacting quality and presentation standards.
What you will do
- Prepare specialty dishes and replacement items as needed.
- Set, control, and monitor temperatures for ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
- Move frozen ingredients into refrigeration to thaw safely before use.
- Plate food with correct portions, arrangement, and garnishing.
- Keep food production logs up to date.
- Check the quality and quantity of prepared food throughout service.
- Coordinate with the team when extra support is needed during peak periods.
- Alert the chef about surplus ingredients that can be used in daily specials.
- Update service staff on specials and items that are unavailable.
- Ensure all food prepared meets quality, recipe, and presentation requirements, including checklist standards.
- Prepare cold food items as required.

- Support management with hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, evaluations, counselling, discipline, and employee motivation.
- Lead by example and contribute to a positive, productive work environment.
Safety, conduct, and workplace standards
- Follow company policies, safety rules, and security procedures at all times.
- Report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to a manager.
- Complete required safety training and certifications.
- Maintain a neat, professional uniform and personal presentation.
- Protect confidential information and company property.
- Respond proactively to guest needs and communicate clearly and professionally with others.
- Build respectful working relationships, support shared goals, and respond appropriately to colleague concerns.
- Consistently meet quality expectations and standards.
- Be able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods and perform bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, reaching, and lifting tasks up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.
Preferred background
The preferred education is a technical, trade, or vocational school qualification. A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is expected, and prior supervisory experience is not required. No license or certification is specified.
