The Role
This position owns the full category strategy and its delivery across New Zealand, with a focus on helping grow the wine category alongside major retail partners. The role reports to the Head of Category & Insights for ANZ & Asia and is part of a close, collaborative NZ team that works closely with commercial, sales, and brand colleagues. It offers a high level of autonomy, requiring you to run your portfolio end to end while balancing immediate execution with longer-term planning in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and roll out category plans for wine and its main sub-categories.
- Lead category review discussions with large retail customers.
- Study scan data and shopper behaviour data to spot patterns and growth opportunities.
- Convert findings into practical commercial recommendations.
- Work with the Sales team to embed category thinking into customer discussions.
- Serve as a reliable advisor to retail partners.
- Coordinate category plans with Brand and Marketing teams.
- Set priorities independently across delivery and planning workstreams.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking someone with established category management experience, ideally from FMCG or liquor. You should bring strong commercial judgement, solid analytical ability, and confidence working with data to drive action. The right person will be comfortable influencing both internal and external stakeholders, communicate clearly and pragmatically, adapt their style when needed, and stay effective in a busy environment with shifting priorities.
