Caretaker

Role overview

An established residential complex in Richmond is seeking a seasoned caretaker to help keep the property clean, safe, and well maintained. The role is hands-on and focuses on day-to-day site upkeep, prompt reporting of defects, and basic maintenance support across the building.

Key duties

• Keep external and shared areas tidy through sweeping and litter collection.
• Move and position refuse bins for scheduled waste pickup.
• Clean and sanitize bin rooms to maintain hygiene standards.
• Report any signs of damage or disrepair straight away to the managing agent.
• Escalate building issues such as structural faults, plumbing problems, heating failures, and lighting defects.
• Carry out simple maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, light gardening, painting, and replacing light bulbs.

Required background

The employer is looking for someone with prior caretaker experience and the practical ability to work with their hands. Strong communication and customer-facing skills are important, along with a solid understanding of health and safety practices and COSHH requirements. Basic experience in painting and decorating, gardening, and similar upkeep work is also expected.
