Care Assistant

Role overview

This position is for a Care Assistant based in Dorchester, working onsite in the community and within clients’ homes. The role is centered on providing practical and personal support that helps people live more independently and comfortably in their own surroundings. The work is varied and can involve supporting vulnerable individuals with everyday needs, which can be highly rewarding.

Working pattern and pay

The pay rate is £11.70 to £17.00 per hour. Working hours may include daytime shifts, evenings, and weekends. This is a full-time position.

What the job involves

You will visit customers in their homes and provide support in line with their care plans and agreed needs. The job focuses on respectful, person-centred assistance that protects dignity while encouraging independence.

• Help with shopping and preparing meals
• Support with medication reminders
• Assist with daily routines and day-to-day living
• Provide respite support when needed
• Encourage social activity and leisure engagement
• Support customers in getting out into the local community
• Deliver domestic help or personal care as appropriate to the individual

How the role is carried out

The support you provide should be similar to the practical help a family member might offer, adapted to the customer’s circumstances. You will travel to customers’ homes and carry out tasks set out in each person’s care plan.

Training and development

New starters receive full induction and training. Ongoing learning, supervision, and development support are also provided, with opportunities to work toward qualifications while employed. Additional training support is available for those who want to build further experience in the care sector.

Additional information

A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required. The employer is not currently offering sponsorship. Applicants must already have permission to work in the UK. Candidates from complete beginners to experienced care workers are welcome, including those who only want a few hours each week.
