About the Company
Honest Health is focused on advancing primary care through purpose-driven partnerships. The organization works with health systems, physician groups, payers, providers, practices, and patients to create practical, innovative solutions that improve care quality, manage costs, and support long-term health outcomes. Its culture emphasizes purpose, innovation, community impact, and kindness.
About the Role
The Business Intelligence Analyst will join the Analytics team and work closely with central operations groups such as Finance, Risk Adjustment, Quality, and Care Management, along with market analytics and leadership teams. The role centers on turning complicated healthcare data into clear tools, insights, and recommendations that support operational improvement and strategic decisions. The analyst will also partner with Finance, IT, and Clinical Operations, and will contribute to partner-facing presentations that translate data into business action.
This position calls for someone who can explain the story behind the numbers, identify cost drivers, uncover root causes, and recommend next steps that help improve outcomes while reducing costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Honest Health’s core business areas, including Medical Expense Management, Risk Adjustment/Clinical Documentation Integrity, Quality, and Care Management, with depth in one or more areas based on business priorities.
- Build a strong understanding of the company’s data assets and analytics products to support problem-solving, strategic decisions, and insight generation.
- Act as the main analytics contact for assigned discipline(s), converting business needs into data-backed insights and decision-support tools.
- Carry out moderately complex analysis and help create standard dashboards, recurring reports, and data tools under guidance from senior analytics leaders.
- Combine and examine data from multiple sources such as EHRs, HIEs, and claims data stored in the enterprise data warehouse or other population health platforms.
- Use advanced SQL to pull and analyze large, complex datasets and turn them into clear deliverables, presentations, tools, and findings.
- Detect patterns and relationships in datasets, identify important fields, and independently propose actionable recommendations.
- Handle routine and moderately complex ad hoc data requests accurately and on time, escalating more difficult items when needed.
- Record logic, methods, data definitions, and workflows so work products can be reviewed, audited, and reused by others.
- Provide timely responses to requests and proactively highlight trends, root causes, and optimization opportunities.
- Build strong working relationships within the Analytics team and across the business, including with executives and individual contributors.
- Use problem-solving, critical thinking, visualization, advanced BI, and emerging AI-based tools to generate impactful insights.
- Serve as a connector between technical and non-technical stakeholders so data findings are clearly understood and used in decision-making.
- Maintain strong reliability and follow-through while managing multiple deadlines and keeping stakeholders updated.
- Take part in data quality work, including identifying and helping correct data issues.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Healthcare, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in data analytics, including work with large and complex datasets.
- Healthcare analytics experience and familiarity with healthcare data and operational workflows are strongly preferred.
- Experience with value-based care models is preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong SQL capability, ideally in Snowflake or another cloud-based environment.
- Experience with data visualization tools, preferably Tableau.
- Working knowledge of R, Python, or SAS is desirable.
- Exposure to AI, machine learning, or NLP use in a healthcare context.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across functions and organizational levels.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to understand processes deeply while communicating the broader picture.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, highly matrixed environment.
- Strong strategic, analytical, and creative thinking skills with experience solving complex problems.
- Ability to handle ambiguity and bring structure and clarity to complicated situations.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively.
