Business Analyst

Role Overview

This is a permanent, full-time Business Analyst opportunity with multiple openings across Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. The role calls for more than 5 years of Business Analyst experience, ideally within banking or insurance environments.

Compensation

Permanent positions offer a salary range of AUD 85,000 to AUD 165,000, depending on experience level.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate functional and non-functional needs into clear user stories.
• Break down requirements into epics, features, and backlog items, and help maintain and refine the product backlog.
• Work collaboratively with the project owner to support ongoing delivery of features.
• Contribute to Agile delivery within a cross-functional Scrum team.
• Participate in sprint planning, solution design, effort estimation, and impact analysis.
• Estimate data migration and development effort and present forecasts using dashboards.
• Use JIRA to manage projects and team activities end to end, and help others use the tool effectively.
• Review, validate, and rework test cases so all scenarios are covered for the testing team.
• Prepare user guides and training materials, and deliver formal training sessions.
• Partner with UX specialists, developers, and testers to clarify business needs where needed.
• Draft acceptance criteria together with the testing team.
• Track defects, prepare reports, triage issues, and support retesting.

Experience and Skills Needed

• Minimum 5 years of experience working as a Business Analyst.
• Prior exposure to banking or insurance projects is preferred.
• Strong grasp of Agile and Scrum delivery practices.
• Ability to decompose requirements into structured delivery artifacts such as epics, features, and user stories.
• Hands-on experience with backlog management and refinement.
• Working knowledge of JIRA for project and team coordination.
• Comfort with solution design, estimation, and impact assessment.
• Experience in test case review, acceptance criteria creation, and defect management.
• Strong documentation and training preparation skills.
• Flexible mindset with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
