About the organization
The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is among the world’s leading organizations for application-oriented research. Its 74 institutes are developing forward-looking technologies that serve both the economy and society, supported by around 30,000 people across engineering, science, administration, and IT. Joining Fraunhofer means wanting to make a difference for yourself, for the organization, and for the markets of today and tomorrow.
At the Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology ITMP, the focus is on innovative approaches for the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases and conditions caused by dysregulated immune function. The institute brings together interdisciplinary teams working at the intersection of science and industry, covering areas such as biomedicine, drug discovery, and nanomicroscopy.
The Fraunhofer external site “Immunology, Infection and Pandemic Research IIP” is dedicated to developing interventions that help prevent the emergence of new infectious diseases and curb the spread of existing ones. It also works to improve therapies for infections and their immunological sequelae. Research activities include new multi-parameter diagnostics, antiviral and immunomodulatory therapeutics, active and passive vaccines, as well as devices that support technical approaches to interrupt transmission routes and point-of-need diagnostic solutions. Data science is a key cross-cutting element of all research areas.
