Role overview
Heidelberg Materials Australia is looking to add several HR and HC drivers to support its Adelaide Metro concrete operations. The available sites are Port Adelaide, Magill, Lonsdale, and Smithfield. These positions are offered as permanent jobs, with casual opportunities also available.
As an agitator truck driver, the job goes well beyond transporting concrete from one point to another. You will be the public face of the business at customer sites, handling multiple deliveries across the day and dealing with a wide range of people. The work is varied and rarely looks the same from one day to the next.
Working pattern and pay
Most shifts begin between 4:00 am and 6:00 am. Drivers may work more than 10 hours a day and roughly 50 to 55 hours each week. Saturday shifts are usually available and attract overtime rates.
The pay structure includes a base rate. Once your daily hours exceed the normal limit, the first two overtime hours are paid at time and a half, and any overtime beyond that is paid at double time. Meal allowances are generally provided after 10 hours in a single shift.
Training, tools and daily work
New starters complete a 10-day training program before working independently. The company also provides modern technology to support safe driving, route planning, and load tracking.
What you need to bring
You should be comfortable speaking with customers and other people you meet on site, since the role requires regular interaction throughout the day. A clean and well-presented truck is important, as it reflects the company’s image.
Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening. Random testing is also carried out across Heidelberg Materials Australia sites. Some trucks have seat and seatbelt weight limits, so for safety reasons you may need to be under a specified weight for certain vehicles.
